Depression: Yes. These are excellent medications that can improve your mood and stabilize your emotional swings. Talk therapy is an important addition to the medications. Be patient as these medications can take time to have an effect on your emotions.

Anxiety & depression: may also manifest as anger/irritability, esp in children/teens. Prominent anger symptoms can stem from other psychiatric diagnoses. Topamax (topiramate) an anti-epileptic, can b used 2 treat psychiatric symptoms. Abilify, (aripiprazole) an atypical antipsychotic, may b rx'ed 4 mood disorders. If you don't have confidence in your Psychiatrist see another for a 2nd opinion. Your self-report of your symptoms along with observations of people who care about you are of utmost importance. Those symptoms are carefully analyzed to find the correct diagnosis which isn't always obvious. Have a physical exam to rule out underlying illness. Consult with a Clinical Psychologist for Psychotherapy.
