Sometimes: Chest x-rays can sometimes detect clinically significant thoracic aortic aneurysms. It can miss them, especially if they are small.

Rarely: Thoracic (chest) aortic aneurysms can sometimes be seen on chest x-rays. The more common abdominal ones need an ultrasound or a ct scan to detect them. Albert einstein died from a ruptured abdominal aortic aneurysm.

Not often: It can only be seen on a chest x-ray if the aneurysm is calcified.
