How is the distal tube of vp shunts placed/coiled in the abdominal cavity? how long/far in does it usually go?

In peritoneum: The catheter is placed through a small incision or through a tube into the peritoneum. It is threaded in several inches into the cavity. Hope this helps.

Patient specific: You have all these questions about your vp shunt. Your neurosurgeon can tell you exactly how he did yours and all questions you may have about the specific model of shunt that you have. Anything else is speculation.
