Well tolerated: Claritin reditabs (loratadine) is an over-the-counter newer generation antihistamine that is usually very well tolerated. Difficulty breathing should not be a side effect of this medication and if it is, that would be unusually rare. Since Claritin is used to treat allergies and allergies frequently co-exist with asthma, it is always a good idea to consider the asthma diagnosis with your doctor.
