Why does it look like i have bunions even after a bunion surgery?

Swelling: Swelling after surgery can give the appearance that you still have a bunion. A weight bearing x ray will clearly demonstrate the presence or absence of a bunion.

Timing: If you have had surgery recently, there may still be some swelling present. If a few months have passed and you still have either a bump, deformity of the toe or both, it is possible the deformity wasn't completely corrected. This may have been due to a poor choice of procedure, but other factors such as scar tissue, residual inflammation and poor patient compliance can also affect the result.

Swelling?: Immediately after bunion surgery your best bet would be to rest and elevate your feet. Excess swelling may look like you still have a bunion. Years after the procedure you may actually get a recurrence.
