Don't do it: It's very hard to lose weight once you gain it. Instead, aim for a well balanced diet and regular exercise so that you're gaining muscle mass and not fat.

No short answer: It depends on whether you are not eating more calories than you are burning during the day or if you have a medical condition. Many are "lean" all of their life but many overcompensate by eating to much and become fat. If your thyroid is overactive you will not gain weight easily. If you have been eating a lot, it might be time to see a physician. Don"t become fat! it is hard on your body.
