Keep exercising: Neutral posture is best after back surgery. Mat exercise, yoga for elongation of spine, walking on inclined treadmill, cross country skiing, upper extremity weights, and swimming stretching can be overdone in the spine after surgery, more useful for the tired leg muscles after exercise. Use walking as your warm up.
