I have had intermittent pitting edema for 2 months. cardiac, kidney, liver, thyroid all normal. when legs swell i get pulling pain inside thigh/foot leg cramps. history of vericose vein ablation 20 years ago. would diuretics help. 62/female?

The edema is likely due to venous insufficiency. Elevating the legs at any and all opportunities may help. Diuretic is not indicated. You are eating more sodium than kidneys can get rid of. Use app Cronometer to see how much you are eating & where it is coming from. Then decrease sodium intake by avoiding high salt foods. Moving to the DASH diet EXACTLY for 2 weeks will tell & likely stop leg cramps as well. Diuretics may lower body K & increase cramps. Get this book -ISBN 9780743410076-and do Chap 9 if your Dr agrees.
