Normal response: The new years eve celebrating probably just caused some reactive inflammation because of increased activities. Would recommend "rice" protocol- rest, ice, compressive wrap, and elevation, to bring inflammation back under control. See about getting your physical therapy going, since it is usually started immediately after surgery.

Likely ok: It is common to have swelling and discomfort 6 weeks after acl surgery. Meniscus surgery that involves actually repairing the meniscus with sutures also can lead to residual swelling for several weeks afterwards.Often times physical therapy and/or a home exercise program is instituted early after surgery to reduces swelling/pain and improve motion/strength.Let your surgeon know if concerns remain.
