When am i considered out of my surgeon's domain and free to see other docs? i'm 6d post-op; my surgeon's on vaca; no other doctors dare see/rx me. :-(

Coverage: The amount if time after surgery is dependent on the type if surgery and your recovery as well. More importantly your surgeon should have another surgeon set up to cover his/her patients while on vacation. I personally tell my patients who that is before i operate on them. But their office should know and help.

Custom/coverage: It is customary for a physician to remain available by phone or arrange coverage with another available physician. In an emergency, don't wait; go to the nearest emergency room for immediate care.
