What type of doctor can diagnose a hernia? i have been to an ortho surgeon, and he said that i need to go to a gen doc to see if i have a hernia?

Generally: Your family doctor or a surgeon if you have one can make the diagnosis, however if you have one and it needs repair a good general surgeon can take care of that for you.
