Dental Sealants: Dental sealants are placed to help prevent cavities from forming in the pits and fissures of posterior (back) teeth. It can also be applied to adult teeth. Anterior (front) teeth do not have pits and fissures that put the teeth at risk for cavities (except for the linguals of the lateral maxillary incisors).

Dental sealants: Dental sealants are not intended to protect teeth from stain. They are used to help prevent cavities from forming in defective or very narrow pits and fissures of teeth (usually just the back primary and permanent teeth) and only as necessary.
