Time will tell: If you have pain and temperature sensation at 3 weeks, you have a good outlook for recovery. Nerve recovery in the face takes up to 9 months; you may notice the area decrease in size over time. There is the risk that you will have a small persistent patch of numbness, or just 'dullness'. Take a b-complex vitamin for the next 6-9 months to ensure your bod has what you need for nerve recovery.

Depends: As a microsurgeon i can only tell you, it depends. It depends on the cause of the injury, it depends on the type of injury i.e. Stretch, chemical, tear. Neuropraxia (stretch) have the best prognosis, axotemesis or neurotemesis(cut) often requie surgery for recovery. Chemical injury have poor prognosis. The fact that there is some sensation is a good sign. Surgery should be considered by 3 months.
