Had my wisdom teeth removed and now half my lip and chin are numb, i can feel temp and pain if i prick it with a toothpick, is this permanent?

Not usually: Please call your surgeon. The sooner this condition termed ' paresthesia' is diagnosed & treated , the better the prognosis for total healing is.

Possibly: The stage of development, position of and proximity to the major nerve supplying the lower jaw (mandibular nerve) are very important. If the doctor feels that room for proper development of the wisdom tooth is too little, then removing it before the root is fully developed is important. I recommend removal of lower 3rd molars at approx 14 years old; with less chance of roots disturbing this nerve.
