I've been tacking ibuprofen on/off month due to back and leg injury. now have persistent heartburn even when i don't take. any advice?

Yes: Stop taking ibuprofen. You likely are having irritation due to ibuprofen. You can either stop it or try taking it with food/ or add an acid blocking agent such as Pepcid (famotidine) which you can now get without a prescription.

Agree w Dr Fagan.: Stop Ibuprofen and other NSAID's. Medications such as antacids, Proton pump inhibitors or H-2- receptor antagonists may help if this is not resolving. Try ginger as well.
