ER: You can go to the emergency room for a toothache but they are not set up to treat most tooth related problems. Few hospitals have a dental resident program which who have a dentist available to see. It would best to call a local dentist to come into his office for the toothache. Most will work you into their schedule. They can start the process to get you back to dental health.

You may: If you have swelling, difficulty breathing or an extreme infection go to an er. If you you have mild to moderate toothache than take some over the counter pain medication and see a dentist asap.

If in danger: The problem with going to the er is that you will have a long wait and typically, if they do not have a dental resident on call, they will give you antibiotic and pain pills which may temporarily help the pain. But it will return... Go the the dentist and have your toothache evaluated. Bacterial resistance is already and issue and chances are, if its a routine dental problem you probably dont need.

Yes but don't: Going to the er, according to patients experiences is time consuming, expensive and generally non productive! you are much better off finding a dentist, or endodontist to get you in asap and actually do something clinically on the tooth to solve the pain problem!
