Small lump : Skin is unlikely to be discolored. You may or may not actually see a small lump. Much more likely to recognize a groin lyph node by feel rather than by actually just seeing a small lump.

Varies: May or may not be elevated so there is a bump in the area; may be reddened, altho may be more difficult to appreciated with black skin; you should be able to feel this and it may or may not be tender. If this is not an answer to your question, reframe it in new terms.
