Small Chance: Yes but there is a small chance. Any instrument that comes into contact with another patient has the potential to transmit disease. Typically these pieces are sterilized or discarded and replaced, to prevent this. Alcohol may be enough to clean it, but not necessarily sterilize the hand piece.

Usually Not Changed: A fractional laser hand piece is usually not changed between patients. There is nearly no risk of disease transmission, so the part that touches the skin typically is cleaned by wiping it down with a sanitizer such as alcohol.
