Small Chance: Yes but there is a small chance. Any instrument that comes into contact with another patient has the potential to transmit disease. Typically these pieces are sterilized or discarded and replaced, to prevent this. Alcohol may be enough to clean it, but not necessarily sterilize the hand piece.
