Umbilical Hernia: Umbilical hernias are usually easily to push back in. If the opening doesn't close by the time the baby is 4-5 years old, a surgeon may help to close it. If for any reason the child suddenly is in severe pain, that may be a surgical emergency and need immediate attention to that area.

Dont worry: Most umbilical hernias in infants close on their own by age two. Hope this helps.

Umbilical hernias: Umbilical (belly button) hernias are fairly common in children and adults. If you're able to "push it back in, " and it's not painful to your child, it's less concerning. If it causes him pain, or it can't be pushed back in, or the skin over the hernia doesn't look healthy (possibly what you're describing), then he should see a surgeon to have it fixed fairly soon.
