Possible: While its possible the hernia may recur, it could also be due to scar tissue from the previous operation. If the symptoms are the same, and especially if you feel a lump there, see a general surgeon for a physical exam.

Possibly: If the pain worsens when you exercise, and especially if you see or feel a bulge in that area, then the hernia may have recurred (come back). If so, a surgeon or other physician should see you to see if there is a hernia. The pain could also be related to scar tissue in that area.
