Why do i have to have an mri scan of my liver & splean?

MRI: Ask your doctor. Apparently blood tests and or physical exam or other imaging studies such as ultrasound prompted the decision to pursue the mri. The physician who ordered the MRI is the most appropriate person to resolve the question as to why it was ordered.

MRIscan of the liver: Is most sensitive for hepatocellular ca but is also useful in characterization of hepatic adenoma or focal nodular hyperplasia. Your doctor can order a different test such as u/s or ct but in general a contrast enhanced MRI is a better test for many things and uses no ionizing radiation. If you are hep c or have hepatitis it is useful to monitor patients with mri. I do this for many patients.
