A member asked:

A small black spot on my liver the size of a penny was found during an ultrasound. i'm being sent for an mri scan but am worried sick?

May be nothing ...: This may just be a benign area in the liver. There are several things which can develop - cysts, benign tumors (adenoma, focal nodular hyperplasia). The MRI should help tell what this may be. Liver cancer is rare if there is no cirrhosis in the liver. Hang in there.

No: You should not be worried sick. If it truly is "black" then it is likely a cyst which is benign. If it is kind of black then it is most likely still something benign at your age. Depending on what it looks like, it is certainly reasonable to do the MRI but chances are highly likely that it will be something benign.
