Functional MRI: Typical MRI reveals the anatomy of the body but gives very little information regarding the function of the body parts imaged. Functional MRI is a way of doing an MRI of the brain while the patient performs a specific task. As the patient does this task the MRI is able to make images showing which parts or the brain are activated during the performance of this task.
