Spine imaging study: A person is placed inside a magnetic field that then rotates. This causes the molecules in the body to line up & then spin around when the magnet spins. When they spin, different structures have different molecues & emit different radio signals. A computer colors the signals for each area from white to gray to black. This makes a picture the physician can read. Radio telescopes work the same way.
