ACL tears don't heal: Acls rarely partially tear. However, all acl tears do not require surgery. Depending on recreational or work activity requirements, good rehabilitation exercise programs exist to strengthen the knee to the point where a fairly active lifestyle is possible. Occasionally, a brace can be helpful. There is an approximately 65% chance of a meniscus injury with acl tears that may require surgery.
