Second line: Erythromycin is classically considered second line for dental infections, especially in penicillin allergic patients; however, there is increasing resistance to it, making it less and less useful.

Not usually: The germs that are generally found in tooth infections do not respond particularly well to erythromycin. Amoxicillin is generally used as a first line antibiotic, with Clindamycin used for those allergic to penicillin class antibiotics. A dental infection not treated properly can lead to tooth loss, bone loss, and other more serious complications. See your dentist to get the correct one!
