Can a antibiotic clear up a eye infection as a last resort to everything else the dr tried? like 500 mg of erythromycin ?

Viral?: Most cases of conjunctivitis are caused by viruses, and there's nothing you can do to clear them up other than wait from them to resolve on their own. If you've already tried antibiotic drops or ointments, that may be the reason.
