See your podiatrist: If the orthotics are causing pain, you might want to try an analgesic like tylenol (acetaminophen) or motrin. If the problem persists, contact your podiatrist.

Dr. B. is right...: The orthotics could be generating the knee pain or there may be some other underlying condition. One plan would be to stop wearing the orthotics and see if the pain goes away. If it continues you may want to see a sports medicine md. One in your area can be found at www.Aossm.Org.

Get adjusted: No. Have them adjusted. Often arthritis of another joint required under or over correction of your foot orthotic. Go see your podiatrist.

Get reevaluated: It all depends on why you had the orthotics made in the first place. Find a podiatrist who examines your whole body and not just your foot. We are a kinetic chain and small changes in one area can definitely affect another.

Sometimes it happens: Depending on how old your othotics are, and what style or material it's made of, it can be almost too good of a good thing.Go back to your podiatrist, and explain the problem.S/he may fit you in something that is more forgiving, and more shock-absorbing, like polystyrene, vs. Leather, or 3/4 foot size, versus full-foot size that provides almost too much traction. Light-weight ones last about a yr.
