Maybe: The best treatment for a sprained ankle is rice. Rest, ice, compression, elevation. Crutches help provide rest, try icing when sitting down and elevating the leg over the level of your heart to decrease the swelling. In addition, a compressive air splint will help to reduce edema.

Not all sprains: Are the same. Some sprains are simple, in which case the "rice" method noted works nicely. Other sprains are really tears, and some are even fractures. Until you get evaluated and have an x-ray, don't partake of tomorrow's event! you may do irrevocable damage! feel better and good luck!

RICE: Rice stands for rest, ice, compression, elevation. This is the first line of treatment. X-rays would be needed to rule out fracture. Splinting and/or casting with crutches if the injury is severe enough.
