Strep: Strep throat, in children particularly, may result in abdominal discomfort, occasionally severe enough to simulate appendicitis. It is due to inflamed lymph nodes on the lining of the bowel (peritoneum). On the other hand, if it persists past another day or two would take him back to the pcp or pediatrician and have this more fully evaluated.
