A member asked:

My son came home with a note that said a classmate had strep in the stomach (hi fever, vomit), but no strep throat.how do you test for "stomach" strep?

Confused! : Strep. "on the stomach?" do you think they meant on the skin? If so it is known as impetigo. It may also be a boil or carbuncle. This might be a bigger worry if they are talking about mrsa. Get clarification about what they are talking about and we will be glad to help.

Strep disease: Strep disease can produce abdominal pain and discomfort. That said, I have never heard of strep in the stomach and wonder if the person was just confused over 2nd or 3rd hand information.
