Maybe: There are many individuals who actually carry group a streptococcus in their nose & throat year round & may never experience a related illness. Why some become symptomatic within 24 hours of invasion & some never do is unknown. Asymptomatic carriers serve as a steady reservoir of infection to those who become sick with it.
