Ask your doctor!: I really can't speak for your doctor. Obviously he/she feels the benefits of Methimazole for you at this time outweighs the stress it is placing on your liver. Other doctors might have a different opinion- this is a judgement call. Ask your doc & if not satisfied seek a second opinion. There are other treatments available but mild elevations tend to be temporary. Herbs like milk thistle may help.

Last Nov my t3 & t4 were elevated & my tsh was a bit low so I took methimazole 5mg for a month. I checked my ft4 & tsh after both came normal. Am I ok?
