If a person was drinking alcohol say beer every day after a days work.if alcohol was causing liver damage the ggt would be elevated right?and if ggt was normal on lab work while drinking alcohol every day that would mean alcohol is not doing damage?

Alcohol injury of the liver is complicated. During the early injury phases, enzymes such as GGT and ALT elevate as cells are destroyed. After a certain intensity of cirrhosis has been reached, then the enzymes are not reflective of injury. Now, failing protein fabrication functions of the liver manifests as an abnormal Pro-time & as coagulation proteins fail & pro-time elevates.
