Will pain pills reduce the symptoms of tmj?

Partially: Tmj pain is a mechanical problem and therefore it needs to be treated mechanically (if teeth are missing, you may need implants or dentures, if you are grinding teeth, a bite guard may come in handy, etc.). Medication will only mitigate pain but will not fix the problem eventually.

Short term: We often forget that medications can trigger tnj symptoms, too. Especially if, the promote bruxism (grinding).

Temporarily: They will not solve the problem but only mask the pain. Seeing a doctor who can diagnose where the pain is coming from and what may e causing it will help treat the problem.
