No: Chest tubes come in different sizes depending on why it is being placed. But in general they are about the width of an index finger.

Small scar: Chest tubes are drains that are essential to restore full expansion of the lung and drain fluid off. In other words, they are life saving. Scarring from these tubes is minimal (less than 1 inch) and shouldn't be a concern considering the advantages.
