Poison : Poison ivy and poison oak produce their skin lesions lesion by direct contact with the plant oils found on their leaves. This can occur by brushing the plant or indirect transfer like coming in contact with smoke from burning the plant. You treat these lesions by washing the area thoroughly and applying a topical medication to sooth the itching, such as calamine lotion. Sinus allergies are due to pollen that plants and trees shed during their reproduction process. This pollen cause an allergic reaction within the body when inhaled. Treatment consist of taking antihistamines.

Different issues: The rash of poison ivy is not classic allergy as every one exposed to those oils will develop a rash. Whereas pollen allergy does not occur in most people who are exposed to it. The two disorders have different mechanisms. You should consult with your doctor who knows more about your health and you may be able to go with your friends if you take appropriate medication with you.
