Re: severe poison ivy rash/allergic reaction of skin - how long does it usually take for a kenalog shot to kick in and symptoms to start subsiding?

Define "kick in": You can usually expect a reduction in the intensity of itching within 24 hrs. Swelling may take a bit longer. The skin rash will take a week or two to fade whether you have the shot or not. There are products like IVYDRY or Benadryl cream that seem to help some.I avoid calamine lotion as too drying and stinky.
