What : What was the diagnosis? The medications they prescribed are for an infection, possibly an upper respiratory infection, and upset stomach. These medications will not be very effective against heartburn (gerd - reflux). Typically over the counter medication for reflux are Prilosec and zantac (ranitidine). You can try one of them, but if the symptoms last for more than a week then you should see your regular physician for a more complete history and exam. If the sore throat is due to an upper respiratory tract infection the there are a number of medications available at the major pharmacies. Ask the pharmacist for assistance.
