Probably viral: Pharyngitis usually is a viral infection, and viruses do not respond to antibiotics. Your doctor probably prescribed azithromycin in case it's strep, but if not, it's not surprising your symptoms are continuing and even getting worse. Check back with your doctor, but probably you'll just have to wait it out. Aspirin or ibuprofen (or related meds) may help control pain. Good luck!
