The : The swelling in the gum can be due to a number of things, all of which need to be evaluated by your dentist as soon as possible. It probably represents an infection that could be due to the tooth nerve dying, a fracture in the tooth, of an problem with the gum.

Dr : Dr funari has given you good advice. Your dental restorations should be evaluated, and your dentist is the one who can do that. Your problem may be solved simply by having a cleaning, or, if the crown has decay along it's edge, you may need to have it replaced.
