The : The time can vary depending upon the nature and degree of the injury to the nerve. Of more concern is whether the damage to the nerve is reversible or irreversible. An endodontic specialist can provide you with the proper diagnosis and recommend appropriate management. You should seek care immediately. Oil of cloves, or eugenol, is a sedative used in dentistry to temporarily calm irritated nerves, it is not a long term solution to your problem and may delay you seeking needed care.

What : What you are describing is usually due to a dying and possibly abscessing dental nerve. You should immediately seek treatment to have the nerve treated. Clove oil is only a temporary measure for the pain. Please do not avoid dental treatment.
