Oil of Cloves: Is a minor topical anesthetic. The infection simply got worse and more painful. The pus should be released and the abscess Rx'd with antibiotics.

Exposed Nerve: You may have an exposed nerve. The oil irritated the nerve. Please see your dentist ASAP.

Not a cure: Oil of cloves does not cure a minor dental infection, just slightly numbs it. If the infection is deep, clove oil may actually act as an irritant. You can't fix this yourself, and the longer you wait, the worse (more expensive to fix) the problem will become. You know what to do. Call your Dentist. Don't put it off any longer.
