The : The above answer is good advise. At this point it seems that a free cleaning is not going to help your problem-it is probably too advanced. You need the help of a general dentist or periodontist to aggressively attack your gum issue.

It : It is best to see a dentist to evaluate and diagnose the severity of your gum problem. Within the initial stages which is gingivitis what you can do at home by proper brushing and flossing you can reverse the disease. As the gum disease become more severe it involves the supporting structures such as the bone and the ligaments around the tooth. This stage is called periodontitis and depending on the severity of it your dentist or periodontist may have different suggestions for the treatment.

Disease is a process: Gum disease almost always is a process rather than a recent onset. It progresses from gum inflammation to tissue loss over time. Neglect allows the procession. Generally slow, it can be exacerbated by hormonal fluctuations and changes in bacterial flora in the oral environment. Could you be pregnant? It radically changes hormone balance and can lead to rapid inflammation if care is not stellar!

Perio consult: See your regular dentist first (or a periodontist) for a complete and thorough exam, x-rays and evaluation to determine the health of your teeth, gums, and bone. The dentist will then discuss the finds and suggested treatment.

Treat the bacteria: Bacteria cause the infection and symptoms. Brushing and flossing are not enough. Consider the perio protect method (www.Perioprotect.Com) to find a doctor near you who can help. The ppm was shown to be better than deep cleaning (j clin dent 2012) and it killed 99.98% of the bacteria (j dent res 2007). Control the cause and you can control the disease/effects.
