The : The realism is actually up to the esthetic ability of your dentist. The white filling will blend into your tooth, if the right shade is selected. It is up to your dentist to shape it in a realistic manner. The filling will stain just like you're natural teeth and can be removed with proper hygiene.

With : With correct shade (color) choice and proper design you should find the filling quite undetectable. The composite material will absorb stain a bit faster than your natural tooth but easily polished out.

The : The resin, tooth colored filling should be pretty undetectable from the natural tooth structure. From the distance anyone is going to be looking at it, it should blend in with the rest of your teeth. No. They will not stain the same as the natural tooth. The filling is an acrylic resin and is somewhat porous. It will pick up stain from your mouth faster than your natural tooth enamel.

Yes, usually: White or tooth colored fillings can look very real, resembling natural tooth structure. They do stain, however, and good oral hygiene and regular professional care helps.

Remember: They usually match closely, but however close their color is in relationship to your actual tooth color, it will be significantly closer in color than yellow gold or dark silver amalgam fillings & much less noticeable. Also, newer white filling composite resins, stain far less & retain a much smoother finish than previous materials. Hopefully with excellent oral hygiene, this will be your only one.
