Every : Every child has it's own rate of development and 9 months is not that far out of normal limits. What is your family history? If the parents were late dental developers it will effect the child. What is the medical history? There are some conditions which late dental eruption is a factor. You will soon need to establish your child with a pediatric dentist. This will be a good time to make that appointment.

Not at all: Although average age of 1st tooth emerging is 6 months, the range is 3-18 months. Every child is different, so don't worry. There's nothing you can do about it anyway. Once 1st tooth erupts, make an appointment with a pediatric dental specialist. Don't wait 'till age 2-3. Kids who see pedodontists when 1st tooth erupts have 40% less dental expenses by age 5.
