The spores are harmless. Only conditions that permit transition from spore to active bacteria result in botulinum toxin and can cause botulism. That means a strictly oxygen free environment, as well as other conditions. The main source of human botulism remains improperly prepared home canned food. Non-commercial honey also can be a source; feed no honey to young babies. Otherwise no worries.
