Birmingham, The : Birmingham, the current recommendation is age two. What gets done is very dependent on the child and their level of communication. But most of my patient will bring their infants in with them for their visits. This is a great opportunity for us to review oral hygiene and dietary concerns in order to prevent oral disease from occurring. I hope this is helpful, michael i. You : You should bring your baby with you when you come in to have your teeth cleaned. If you are following an ideal regime for pregnant mums you should be coming in every 3 -4 months. You want you baby to get used to the dental environment, and coming with you for a regular cleaning appointment should be an ideal way to set the stage for what is normal in your life. Best wishes dr neil mcleod dds dentistry that lasts - quality that counts.

Age 1: Recommendation of american dental association & american academy of pediatric dentists is age 1. Good idea to see pediatric dental specialist for same reasons you see pediatrician. Need to asses crania-facial growth and development, fluorides, oral hygiene, diet, sports safety, and so many other things. It also gives chance for dentist and child to bond. By the way, 1st orthodontic cm-up age 7.
