3 yr old dental: Yes you should go, the ada recommends that children should see the dentist at 2 yrs old. We try to make it a fun appointment and just get them used to the dentist setting. Don't say "don't worry it won't hurt" to your child before. Say "its going to be fun, they will clean your teeth and give prizes". They will have a better experience.

Past due: Pediatric dental specialists (and i agree) recommend 1st ck-up age 1 to evaluate, growth and development, fluoride, sealants, occlusion, oral hygiene, etc. Even the best general dentist has 2+ years less training in evaluating and treating kids than pedodontists. Please go now. And by the way, 1st orthodontic ck-up, by a qualified orthodontic specialist age 7.
