Most do.: There is some variability when it comes to the use of drains after tummy tuck surgery. I personally do use drains and remove them when their “output” is low. This averages 1 to 2 weeks generally.

Most plastic surgeons use drains after a tummy tuck to prevent the buildup of fluid under the skin. Normally, the drains are left in for a week, but if large amounts of fluid are draining, the drains will be left in longer.
